One thing that is a constant is that leftists will take whatever side they think gives them an advantage. And the moment that advantage disappears they switch sides and claim that Republicans took their former position on any issue.

Example: Pushing for defunding the police and then claiming Republicans were responsible for it when everything goes to shit because of their defunding efforts.
