Congress closing in on shutdown deadline with no clear plan

I think everyone by now is aware that something has to be done about this out of control spending and corruption. Yes, corruption that is condoned by the voting public. There will be some sacrifices, just like when your credit is maxed out and you have to make some changes before you're out on the street. The sacrifices will be amplified by a panicking establishment to drive resistance to change. The public has been fed so much pablum and random cash (borrowed money that accrues interest) infusions that it is considered normal now. It also has a very short attention span and thinks that government can instantly fix the very problems they created, and they are the innocent victims which we are not; we allowed this to develop with our gullibility and apathy. This is not a 30 day fix, it is only in the denial stage now, and if we can get through the anger stage we may have a chance to make it better.
The 5 stages of grief
  • denial.
  • anger.
  • bargaining.
  • depression.
  • acceptance.
Not true. Trump said he would fix all that stuff really quick. Are you saying he was lying?

I'm saying this rats nest stinks so bad that no one can clean it out quickly if it can be done at all, especially if there is no public support. Think of it more as a crime cartel where everyone receives some individual benefits from the shenanigans rather than a representative form of commerce.

We are fortunate that we live in a system where we can pick the lies from a menu ala carte that we want to support. Border under control, schools working well, inflation down, fixing the unemployment. reducing health care costs, free college and no more debt, crime down, etc. You can mix and match them, too, and find any number of 'polls' that will aid your confirmation bias.

If things are really that bad, a competent candidate for the president would have known it would take a long time. So, the only choice is - was trump lying when he said he would reduce prices very quickly from day one or was he blatantly lying. Which do you think is accurate?

So trump's lies don't matter?

Trump will continue to watch p;rices go up this year.

Not a thing he can do about it.

How long is "very quickly?" He's been in about six weeks, so it would have been very, very quickly, if he had already cleaned up all of Biden's messes.

I would say faster than Biden brought about his ridiculous inflation would be a worthy goal and would constitute "very quickly."

This from the OP has not been addressed on this thread:

“We cannot come to a deal where you hammer out gains, losses, but you come to a conclusion and you come to a meeting of the minds,” Rep. Rosa DeLauro (Conn.), the top Democrat on the House Appropriations Committee, told reporters. “That should not be subject to some third party deciding that that’s not what they want.”

“We had a deal last year, all of us and so forth, and then there was an interloper with no authority, no legitimacy, nonelected, who said, ‘Don’t vote for it,’” DeLauro said, as Democrats have continued to zero in on tech billionaire Elon Musk, the head of Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Democrats are going to use this as yet another opportunity to cry foul over Trump using his authority as the sole executive to ban this spending or that, in much the same ways as Biden, Obama, Clinton and Carter did.

If they had one of the Houses, they would use that leverage to hold up funding until there was an agreement on language to try to forbid Trump from taking the waste-cutting measures he is taking.

i'm sure that is what you would say. Unfortunately, that's not what trump said.

Inflation is going up.

Nah, the GoP proposed budget is an inflation driver of mighty proportions.

You just want to enrich even more the richest of Americans.

I'm sure that you would say that Trump said something different from what I say.

Which makes sense, being that I am not Trump.

Did you say everything that Kamala Harris said, or did you occasionally have words of your own?

The Freedom Caucus tail wags the GOP dog.

The Dems must make the GOP own the budget. Do not help them.
