In our current system you forgot the most important one, the one that is corrupting the system. The donor class. They exert more influence over the elected representatives than the voters, imho.

They limited the citizenry to mostly white male property owners to keep the unwashed, uneducated, and superstitious folks from using the so called tyranny of democracy to bring the elitist down.
