The language spoken in China is Putonghua, based on the Mandarin dialect of Beijing,

I have observed a strange phenomenon. I frequently travel to Southern China where for centuries, the most widely spoken language is Guongdongwa (literally, language of Guangdong Province) known to most people as Cantonese.

In America, until very recently, if you met a Chinese-speaker in the US, they would speak Cantonese as nearly all immigrants to the US from China since the 18th Century have been Southern Chinese.

The Southerners are very proud of their language being much older and a lot more formal than Putongwa (Mandarin) Chinese and has the additional benefits of having more swear-words than any other language in the known universe.

However, a large number of younger Chinese from Guangdong no longer speak Cantonese but only Mandarin and it is beginning to disappear from China.

It would truly be a shame to see such a rich language disappear but I suspect we could see than happen in only a couple more generations.

I often see people vehemently defend Capitalism as if it needed to be protected. However, fear not!

Capitalism, the economic system where privately owned goods and services can be traded for profit shall not perish from this Earth. You can hate Capitalism, you can try to suppress it, you can claim it no longer exists but ... it is ALWAYS there.

They had it all through The Soviet Union, it exists in North Korea, it has existed since the beginning of time and it is as natural to humans as breathing in and out.

Because ... it is two things

1. It is the ONLY economic system that doesn't have to be supported or enforced by a political system. It will exist in every political system no matter how free or how oppressive

2. It is the ONLY system that can guarantee to bring those things that are desired to those who have the desire and the wherewithal to obtain them.

Sorry for my ridicule against communism.

I suffer from the mental illness of whispers. I thought there were over ten or over twenty communists against me. About ten Nazis instead. I hasn't known the exact whispers for a long time. Voices have been secret for a long time.

The Soviet Union is still rarely liked, perhaps liked in hockey. I was five years old before the Soviet Union was dissolved. Between 1970 and 1990, the Soviet Union won over ten World championship gold medals, one Olympic gold medal and one Canada Cup gold medal.

There are probably between 19 and 38 million communists in today's Russia. The religious half is more. The religious half likes the KHL. Communists tend to like Russian soccer.
