What do issues with Common Core have to do with being liberal? I trend that way and am troubled by much of the "blanket" CC curricula adopted by many states...some of which IS NOT supported by neurological and educational research. In the CC math and language curricula, 8 year old children are expected to comprehend analogies, grasp algebraic equations, and draw abstract inferences from written material.
The above makes no sense,....

Common Core is NOT really helping kids learn or prepare for life's problem solving.

Absolutely. Our school district lowered the bar a few years back ... 65-69 is now considered a D, rather than failing. Not in our house. 70 is passing, 69 and below is failing. Period. Know what else they do? If a student fails a class they get to go on to the next grade anyway then, if they are still short of credits, they get to repeat their senior year. wtf? So if they fail algebra 1 in their freshman year they still go on to be a sophomore, take algebra 2 and three years ... receive the consequence. Learning isn't important, passing is all they care about. Leftist logic is anything but. The icing on the cake? They call the repeating seniors "super seniors" .... as if, somehow, it's a good thing. Morons, I can't wait till my youngest is done with school (one more year), wish I could have afforded private school.
