DENVER, CO — In a heroic effort to save American Democracy, the Colorado Supreme Court has voted to prevent residents of Colorado from voting for their preferred candidate.
"I love democracy, and this is why we had to vote to overrule the millions of Colorado citizens who want to elect Trump through the democratic process," said Colorado Justice and white woman Melissa Hart after the vote. "Trump is a terrifying orange man and if he's elected he will likely grow to over 50 feet and rampage through the country killing people with his laser eyes. Our democracy is too precious for us to allow that to happen."
After Justice Hart's statement, the three other justices who voted with her stood and clapped in approval.

Democracy experts also applauded this democracy-subverting move to make sure democracy wasn't subverted. "Just think. If 4 people in robes hadn't taken away the voting rights of millions, we would have lost our democracy!" said journalist and democracy expert Linda Florgbott. "Thank God we saved it just in time."
At publishing time, Trump had gained another 12% in Colorado polls.

The bee's writers don't even need to work that hard anymore. The Progs do all the hard work for them.

There is one short clause in this story (the AP version) that tells it all: "...all appointed by Democrat governors..."

So we have a Constitutional provision that is clearly aimed at former CONFEDERATE officials, and a cabal of appointed DEMOCRATS does this.

Ah yes, this the party that wants to save democracy.

Look up the word, "projection."

CO saving America from Nazi's.

There is a law on the books about someone who was involved in insurrection can't run for president again. There's a reason for that law and it's not outdated. It's completely relevant today.

Oh, and Republicans, this is a states rights issue. Don't go running to the Federal Supreme Court.

14th Amendment

Maybe you should go with Nikki or Chris Christie?

barring from state or federal office anyone who took an oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution but then “engaged in insurrection or rebellion” against it, or gave “aid or comfort to [its] enemies.”

Pretty clear cut law that Trump broke. Add it to the list of charges.

And you still like him? You fucking Nazi.

Or twisted Democrat judges who see their chance to score points with the Marxocrat Regime.
“The court’s decision today affirms what our clients alleged in this lawsuit: that Donald Trump is an insurrectionist who disqualified himself from office under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment based on his role in the January 6th attack on the Capitol, and that [Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold] must keep him off of Colorado’s primary ballot,” CREW president Noah Bookbinder said. “It is not only historic and justified, but is necessary to protect the future of democracy in our country.”

If you aren't happy with the law as it is written, you are free to try changing it.

14th Amendment
The nonsense they are trying has never been litigated before. I welcome the coming decision by SCOTUS. It will just shut down one more path to tyranny you lot are trying to impose ;) Oh, and the supreme court has jurisdiction over any issue of national impact. If this hit job were allowed to stay in place, a similar tactic would push him off the ballot in every swing state and the coup would be in place and CWII well on its way to starting in earnest.

Section 3 of the 14th Amendment says: “No person shall ... hold any office, civil or military, under the United States ... who, having previously taken an oath ... as an officer of the United States, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against...

And clearly Trump did.

What about states rights?

And I can't wait to read Trump's 3 appointees decisions saying he didn't lead an insurrection.

Even Christie thinks the Court is insane.

That's because Trump hasn't been convicted of insurrection yet. Well then we need to get this trial started asap.

Trump is currently facing charges from the Department of Justice related to his alleged efforts to stay in power after losing the 2020 presidential election, which included blocking the certification of 2020 election votes.

If found guilty, he should be removed from the ballot. No?

Because you can't convict him, because he didn't lead or participate in an insurrection.

Unlike your CHAZ/CHOP buddies who actually took control of several blocks from local government control FOR MONTHS.

Nope. There is no preclusion from running for President except age and being a natural born citizen.

Ask Marion Barry if being convicted of something prevented him from regaining his office.

The four Democrat judges who said Trump engaged in insurrection are:

1. Judge Monica M. Márquez — Appointed by Governor Bill Ritter, Jr. (D):

  • Márquez is the first gay person to serve on the Court. As of 2021, Márquez is the longest-serving openly gay state supreme court justice serving in the United States.
  • Márquez is a member of the self-described Bench Dream Team, which is a group of judges dedicated to diversity and inclusion in law.
  • Márquez previously practiced general commercial litigation and employment law in Denver.
2. Judge Melissa Hart — Appointed by former Gov. John Hickenlooper (D):

  • Hart is from Denver and is married with two children.
  • Hart was the Articles Editor for the Harvard Law Review and Book Review Editor for the Harvard Women’s Law Journal.
  • After a clerkship with Justice John Paul Stevens of the United States Supreme Court, she practiced law in Washington, DC, as a trial attorney at the Department of Justice.
  • Hart is “fair and impartial, makes decisions without regard to possible criticism and treats parties equally, regardless of race, sex or economic status,” a 2020 Office of Judicial Performance Evaluation found.
3. Judge William W. Hood, III — Appointed by former Gov. John Hickenlooper (D):

  • Hood graduated from Yale University and obtained a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
  • Before being appointed to the Court, Hood was a litigation law partner in Denver and served as a prosecutor for ten years.
  • A 2016 Office of Judicial Performance Evaluation found “that Justice Hood’s performance is strong in the areas of being courteous towards attorneys, treating parties equally regardless of race, sex or economic status and allowing parties to present their arguments.”
4. Judge Richard L. Gabriel — Appointed by John Hickenlooper (D):

  • Gabriel was born in Brooklyn, NY. He and his wife have two adult children.
  • “Gabriel’s performance is strong in the areas of being prepared for oral argument, being courteous and treating parties equally,” a 2018 judicial performance review said of him.
  • A female law clerk accused Gabriel of harassment in 2021, the Denver Post reported.
