Collapsing this fast? I knew Fox was going to get hurt big time, but now third after the Election Night fiasco, while CNN is miles ahead?

Check out these numbers. Almost unbelievable unless newsmax and other networks have taken most of Fox viewers. There is no way other than the Weasel Wallace viewers that Fox News viewers are switching to CNN.

This is a collapse of mammoth proportions. Maybe worse than what twitter is about to experience.

Man, when Americans get pissed and feel betrayed, they really let it be known.

So what's the ratio between an increase in CNN viewership, and a decrease in FOX? Were there actually more people watching CNN, or just fewer watching FOX?

It's hard to beleve how fucking DENSE you are AFTER being schooled on this.

Broadcast "ratings" have ONE PURPOSE AND ONE PURPOSE ONLY, and that is to set advertising rates.

They show ONE THING AND ONE THING ONLY and that is how many of what kind of people are watching/listening/reading.

THAT'S IT. FULL STOP.

THEY DO NOT, AND CAN NOT, MEASURE ANYTHING REMOTELY RELATED TO ANY KIND OF "FEEWINGS". UNDERSTAND? THEY MEASURE ATTENTION, NOT "ASSENT'. THEY ARE NOT "VOTES" ON CONTENT. NEVER HAVE BEEN, NEVER WILL BE, NEVER CAN BE.

What does that mean for you and your pretentiously pathetic thread here Twinkles? It means that unless you're in the business of either buying or selling TV commercials, WHAT YOU HAVE HERE MEANS ABSOLUTE SQUAT.

FOR FUCK's SAKE YOUR OWN LINK COMES FROM AdWeek. What did that tell you??

FOR FUCK's SAKE YOUR OWN LINK COMES FROM AdWeek. What did that tell you??

It is giving us the ratings of people who watch the shows. Who cares about the purpose, the viewers aren't saying "hey man, I really want to increase CNNs ad revenue so maybe I will watch them now, and make them some more money!".

You suggesting that actual ratings of sports, news, TV Shows are not valid in understanding who is watching what? That's asinine.

I'm not concerned with the impact on rates they charge advertisers, I'm interested in the sets of eyes watching TV shows. They show what people are interested in, even where their ideology is leaning. You don't go from a couple of millions ahead of your closest rival to 3rd place and millions behind, without a good reason.

Tucker said CNN is trying to sink Fox News, and they may just succeed. I live in the world of data of numbers, not "agreement or disagreement".

NO THEY DO NOT. They show what captured viewers' ATTENTION, not what they're "interested in".

For fuck's sake naked people traipsing about on an island forced to eat bugs gets "ratings". Are we to believe viewers are interested in naked people traipsing about on an island forced to eat bugs? Bullshit onstage paternity suits get "ratings". Are we to believe people are interested in bullshit onstage paternity suits concerning people they'll never meet? A fire in some neighborhood you've never been to highlights your local news, are we to believe you're suddenly "interested in" some neighborhood you've never even heard of???

Fake "wrestling".
Crime.
Tornadoes and destruction.
Wildfires.
"Slut! Slut! Slut!"
Trawling around in somebody's abandoned storage unit.
"Celebrities" and their personal lives.

You don't get ANY of this psychology do you. That makes you the useful idiot. Just the fact that you're masturbating over something as trivial as TV ratings gives that away.

This is very, very normal. Look it up if possible. Every time there is a crisis, whether it’s that jetliner disappearing, or the Notre Dame church fire, or domestic terrorists, the nation flocks to CNN.

There are reasons for this. Number one reason is they have the best equipment, the most of it, and the best technicians. They have bureaus all around the world. Fox has no bureaus. For years and years every time you saw actual news footage on Fox News it would have the little disclaimer “footage from CNN, footage from BBC.”

if there is any kind of news conference or event where you can’t really hear what people in the audience are asking, turn to CNN. They have the best audio by far.

I think it’s an innate quality issue that CNN has that even the other networks do not, and people subconsciously pick up on that. MSNBC frequently has very bad audio.

There are plenty of times when I am watching a breaking news story on MSNBC and within a few minutes I’m thinking I wonder how CNN is covering this? I wonder if they have better footage or closer cameras. And I switch over, and frequently they do. They seem to also get access that others do not, As far as how close they can get to the action. This is why they are the acknowledged world leader in news, whether you like it or not.

I have noticed the bad audio. MSNBC seems to have no qualms about using interview subjects who can't be bothered to simply pick up a phone and insist on using speakerphone, and/or use really shitty low-rate digital feeds. Almost as bad as MLB's 'today's games" list (--- almost. Nobody's audio is as bad as that).

My family members are switching out wildly to One America Newsroom, I think it is, and Newsmax -- I would too, if they were on cable. Too hard right now. But yeah, CNN has done a LOT better than Fox lately and I would normally NEVER go to CNN.

But they've got John King at the Big Board for elections, and he's just the best, and Wolf is behaving himself very well, genteel and good manners, doesn't "go off" like so many do. PEOPLE, I so very much don't want to know how you FEEL, I just want the NEWS!!! Some people at CNN have figured that out. Fox still hasn't got there.

I went first to Fox to watch the Wednesday Electoral College ballot counting. THEY HAD TRUMP ON INSTEAD OF THE HISTORIC EVENT. I couldn't believe it. So, I went to CNN! They had proper focus on what was actually going on and were covering the Joint Session of Congress, for heaven's sake, is that asking too much?

Fox's coverage of the election was so seriously bad --- they called Virginia for Biden on open at 7 PM as soon as election coverage started with 0.3 of 1% of the vote counted. Now, in what universe was that okay? And Virginia had Trump leading until after 11 PM. I know more people were angry about Nevada and Arizona coverage by Fox, but I can't forgive them Virginia. So I watched the Georgia election mostly on CNN.

Something is really wrong with Fox. I don't know what it is. They've suddenly got poor Stu Varney on their business channel doing Happy Talk with a bevy of pretty females, and all of them are bad at it --- these are business types, they do numbers. And that The Five thing, horrible --- I cannot look at the evening news on Fox any longer, between the vapid Five and the screaming meemies that come after them.

So I am NOT shocked at your very interesting news, SC. Fox is just throwing away their lead, I don't know why.

So what's the ratio between an increase in CNN viewership, and a decrease in FOX? Were there actually more people watching CNN, or just fewer watching FOX?

Good question. I would wonder if it may be fewer watching Fox, after two relatives wrote to advise me to watch these new outlets for news. If they get put on easier access, I will, too. Already I watch CNN for emergencies since the election. They've got a seriously bad guy on there, very nasty, can't think what his name is, Jake something? Jake Tapper, I looked it up. He's so nasty --- who could watch him? So I can't watch much CNN. Really, it's getting to be quite a problem finding TV news.

There are getting to be big, fast switcharounds. Big Tech seems to be trying to stop an instant transfer of the nation from Twitter to Parler as of yesterday by simply ----- dropping it from the app store, like they did Fortnite. I like this kind of sudden switch. Like the boycott of Target after the pro-tranny thing they did.

This is all about your political biases, and has nothing to do with CNN's news coverage.

When did you become so angry?

I remember when you were a relatively level headed poster.

Fox's ratings declined precipitously.

That is a fact.

Less people are watching...a 40% plunge I read somewhere.

We can take that fact (the fact that significantly less people are watching), correlate that with current events, and extrapolate conclusions.

That's called critical thinking.

Comparison of ratings from one book to the next can, yes. And that means anyone advertising on that venue will get better prices than they got the last time.

AND THAT'S ALL THAT IT MEANS. The Grand Sum and Totality. The whole Shebang. It has nothing to do with "collapsing" or "hurt" or "Weasels" or anyone being "pissed". It has nothing to do with anyone's "feewings". It means "how many eyeballs are in that room". Has absolute zero to do with WHY those eyeballs are or are not in that room. Has nothing in the world to do with how anyone "feels" about those eyeballs being or not being there.

When did you become so angry?

I remember when you were a relatively level headed poster.

Fox's ratings declined precipitously.

That is a fact.

Less people are watching...a 40% plunge I read somewhere.

We can take that fact (the fact that significantly less people are watching), correlate that with current events, and extrapolate conclusions.

That's called critical thinking.

Number one ---- FEWER people are watching, not "less". There's no such thing as "less people".
"Less of a collective, "fewer" of individuals. LESS rain, FEWER raindrops.

Number two, I know god damn well what broadcast ratings are for and so does the OP because he's had his sorry ass (sorry, that should be soory if he's really Canadian which I still doubt) schooled on all of this before and I mean RECENTLY. And yet here he comes yet again selling the same bullshit looking for different results, or thinking he'll get away with it.

Intentional ignorance offends me. I crush it.
I guess I'm confused.

Do the ratings not denote a reduction in viewership?

Comparison of ratings from one book to the next can, yes. And that means anyone advertising on that venue will get better prices than they got the last time.

AND THAT'S ALL THAT IT MEANS. The Grand Sum and Totality. The whole Shebang. It has nothing to do with "collapsing" or "hurt" or "Weasels" or anyone being "pissed". It has nothing to do with anyone's "feewings". It means "how many eyeballs are in that room". Has absolute zero to do with WHY those eyeballs are or are not in that room.
But can we not extrapolate causes...or at a minimum correlations?

Not that kind, NO.

"Attention" is cultivated by numerous means especially emotional, especially fear. Take Fox Noise. Please. That entity cultivated lots of attention by focusing on "fear the scary black man" stories, suggestive chyrons running across the screen that are never fact-checked, ridiculously garish studio colors, angry white guys pounding the table, bimbos in short skirts. and soap-opera thrust of talking about PEOPLE (poiticians) rather than CONCEPTS (policies) -- which enables you to demonize. None of that means anybody "agrees with" or "likes" scary black man stories, etc.

(Well to be fair there are those who agree with bimbos in short skirts)

---- But ALL of them are appeals to Emotion. As is the Weather Channel when it spends its prime time running shows about "here's the most fearsome fucking tornado ever and it could come back tomorrow and kill you".

Nobody "desires" yuge tornadoes, just as nobody "agrees with" that tractor trailer engulfed in flames on the shoulder of the highway. BUT THEY ALL GRAB ATTENTION. And that's what ratings are measuring.... ATTENTION.

Ok...I agree with that.

But...if Fox News was number one for years, and suddenly it is not...and a mass number of their views have flocked to Newsmax and OANN... coinciding with a huge post election backlash...we can extrapolate nothing from that?

Because it seems like we can...

So what's the ratio between an increase in CNN viewership, and a decrease in FOX? Were there actually more people watching CNN, or just fewer watching FOX?
We have moved to Newsmax !
The conservatives will no longer be abused by the Stalinist Dems and the fake GOP
We have awoken
