16 grams of methane draws 64 grams of oxygen out of the atmosphere ... this returns 44 grams of carbon dioxide and 36 grams of water, the water precipitates out into the oceans/lakes/rivers/etc ... for a net loss of 20 grams ...

16g (g) + 64g (g) --> 44g (g) + 36g (l) = 80 grams, both, so conservation of mass is kept ... we take 16 grams out of the Earth and return 36 grams ... for a net loss of atmospheric mass of 20 grams ... Chemistry 101 ...

We use the "one photon, one molecule" rule in this universe ... thus we use molar mass for our calculations ...
