The modern era global cooling scare goes clear back to the 1920's. Several cooling cycles before the 16th century frightened a lot of people globally(no crops/starvation) & another ice age was a serious concern. Nothing came of their fears. The global cooling scare of the early 20th century gained some minor traction but rapidly petered out. The more modern era global cooling scare of the 60's/70's era was spun out of the 1950's nuclear winter/ice age theory during the latter 50's & early 60's era.

And the same is true of weaker tornadoes … decreasing.
