It kicks off in the colonies soon.
Its not really caught the imagination yet.
Primarily because its not really clear how clubs qualify. It looks like the criteria is whatever ensures that the biggest and richest clubs are present.
It goes on for a month before the best european team will win
Theres a lot of money on offer. And in particular the african clubs will benefit. But will this largesse create imbalance in domestic leagues ? You bet.
Its really a power grab between EUFA and FIFA to see who controls the game.
Still its live football and that will always get an audience.
Enjoythe game.

This is the only time I watch your brand of football, the WC is great, but it only happens every 4 years, so that is part of what makes it so much more compelling, along with all the stars representing their home country.

I don't know what you are talking about in your post (I have not read your link, yet), however, those details are lost on most of us Americans, one of the only countries in the world who pay little attention to the World Cup. Maybe this year will be different, although I doubt tickets would be cheap if a game is near you.

Its not the world cup. Its the club world cup. A made up competition.

Meh, not at all interested in that, but I hope it tickles your fancy.
Bit ambivalent really. I will probably watch some of it but there are some awful mismatches in there.Anything FIFA does has a big question mark over it.
At least this isnt in Qatar or Saudi.

I just saw something called the "Gold Cup" that the U.S. is playing in, it was only mentioned because the best player on the U.S. team, Pulisic, is sitting out for "rest".

Pulisic plays at a higher level than most of his team mates. They need to look after him so he doesnt burn out.

Not much interest in this yet. Empty sradiums and mismatches.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Only 97 fans turned up to watch a South African side play a Japenese team. Thenthey evacuated them because of a storm warning.

But i watched Boca play Benfica the other night. It was a great atmocphere created by the Boca fans.
Maybe Buenos Aires would have been a better venue ?

Really looking forward to the game between Juventus and Real Madrid. The two heavy weights of European football. PSG vs Inter Miami should be a good one too.

PSG just won some championship in Munich right before I got there, I guess it is important because they did it without Mbappe.

What a piece of poopies it is.

Only two clubs from each country in Europe, but FOUR Brazilian teams... hmm.....

And it seems all the FIFA bumboys are getting in there.

Mbappe is good, but he caused problems with the other players

PSG ditched the galacticos and won. Madrid havent learned that lesson yet.

Real don't need to learn this lesson, they used the Galacticos to make money, and to make the best players want to play for them. This they got. They cheat like crazy too, especially with tax.

Real have won the Champions League plenty of times, like when Ramos assaulted the Liverpool keeper and should have been sent to prison, instead he won a Champions League medal.

Isaw real beat Leverkusen in Glasgow a few years back. Zidane,Figo, Raul et al. It was a hollywood line up. They were all great players but Zidane was the maestro.

I was living in Spain at the time, seeing the Zidanes and Pavones situation. I've learned to hate Real and their nonsense. Living 4 hours from Madrid in the poorest region, and my flatmates supported either Real or Barca. My other half's family all supported Real. Nobody supported the local team.

Everything in Spain is built up around Real, except if you live outside of "Spain Spain", like Catalonia, the Basque country, etc.
