actually it was bills that republicans wrote and passed that deregulated the banks ... these bills also have bills in them that the democrats wanted at the time ... the bill I'm talking about was Phil grahams bill in 1998 99 not sure of the year grahams bill removed the regulations on people getting loans not having stellar ratings ... the housing bubble wouldn't have been so bad if they didn't deregulate the banking so much .... in 2003 they also passed the american dreamdown payment bill ... also written by phil grapham as a lobbiest ... along with greenspan saying to the country it wasn't as bad as we think ... every body followed his advise ... which later on he said in 2007 he was wromg ... so if you want to look at the cause of the housing bubhble you need to look at why the republicans passed these bills in the house and senate before you jump on us liberals/democrats
