We need to send someone who will make the case for emphasis on natural gas and nuclear power, renewables where they make economic sense, and efficient use of fossil fuels. Find engineering solutions to the problems of today's warming, and international cooperation to implement them.

But the U.S. is not going to cripple its economy in the vain hope that it will make someone happier a hundred years out.
