Climate Change CO2 Question

If CO2 is such a perfect heat insulator, why does thermal pane windows use Argon

Argon

Not CO2

There’s way more Argon in our atmosphere than CO2

What’s the explanation?

That will depend on why you think carbon dioxide is a perfect heat insulator? ... it's as good as argon, but not as dense ... so carbon dioxide is a better convector of heat energy ... the opposite of what we want ...

Neither will oxidize anything else at environmental temperatures ... thermal properties are about equal ... just argon is heavier and requires more force to move about ... for the same force, there's less heat transfer ...

As a carpenter, I have very good reasons to believe Anderson Windows' opinion in this matter ...

Sounds like standard knowledge every carpenter should know.

I've built some expensive homes ... we installed Anderson ... you knew they were the best because they weighed the most ... God those things are heavy ...

If that's the limit of your little girl imagination ... then sure ... c.f. dry ice ...

I can see why insulation contractors love you so much ...
You imagine the record label, Ekektra is a little girl?

Haha, so wrong you can be.

yes, co2 is dry ice and has zero effect on making the earth warm

So, no answer?

CO2 is a beast at retaining heat but thermal insulated windows use Argon instead.

Weird right?

Argon is almost 1% of Earth atmosphere, CO2 is .04%

The answer is CO2 isn't a "beast at retaining heat" ... argon is denser, so that's a better choice ...

Best is tear out the window, frame the opening in and use R-19 fiberglass insulation ... 0% of the atmosphere under non-tornadic conditions ...

To protect ourselves from climate change, we need to off everyone who has lied and claimed CO2 is the cause...

DEATH AND TOTAL ASSET FORFEITURE

Translation: we got nothing but our BELIEF that CO2 is a deadly heat trapping molecule

Because they certainly do not have any actual DATA to back up that claim... just FUDGE.

The atomic weight of argon is 18, meaning a mole of AR weighs 18 grams.
The atomic weight of carbon dioxide is 22, so a mole of carbon dioxide weighs 22 grams.
The ideal gas law states that equal numbers of molecules occupy equal volume.

Lead is far denser than any gas. By the way, so is water. Does anyone think lead or water are great for insulation? Goose down isn't used in sleeping bags because it's "denser" than other materials.

Carbon dioxide's infrared spectrum shows its affinity to absorb light photons, but not remotely as much as water vapor does.

carbon dioxide versus water vapor.webp

Argon's atomic weight is 40 amu ... or 40 grams per mole ... we use addition to find the atomic weight of carbon dioxide ... (1 x 12) + (2 x 16) ... more like 44 grams per mole ... is your periodic chart up-to-date? ... there has been a few changes in the past 300 years ...

Have you contacted Anderson Window Inc. about this discrepancy in their literature? ... water vapor is the best far and away, but keeping windows at 225ºF is a safety hazard ...

If you live near a coal seam I wouldn't bother ...
