The estimated number of people living with HIV/AIDS by country as of 2008.
Disability-adjusted life year for HIV and AIDS per 100,000 inhabitants
no data
HIV/AIDS is a global
pandemic.
[1] As of 2012, approximately 35.3 million people are living with HIV globally.
[2] Of these, approximately 17.2 million are men,
16.8 million are women and 3.4 million are less than 15 years old.
[3] There were about 1.8 million deaths from
AIDS in 2010, down from 2.2 million in 2005.
[3]
Sub-Saharan Africa is the region most affected. In 2010, an estimated 68% (22.9 million) of all HIV cases and 66% of all deaths (1.2 million) occurred in this region.
[4] This means that about 5% of the adult population in this area is infected.
[5] Here, in contrast to other regions, women compose nearly 60% of cases.
[4] South Africa has the largest population of people with HIV of any country in the world, at 5.9 million.

Dude as is usual your ignorance of reality is overwhelming and the stench leaves a bad taste , a very bad tasted - People are dieing "dude" and you scumbags just sit there guzzling the kool aid and pointing fingers at all the innocent.
Human beings and bio organisms do not behave differently on one continent than they do on another . The AIDS virus in Africa does not behave differently in Africa than it does in North America.
In the US 12 percent of AIDS cases are attributed to heterosexual transmission,
meaning victims claimed to have gotten it that way. Of these, over a third are males.
Yet San Francisco epidemiologist Nancy Padian evaluated 72 male partners of HIV-infected women over several years, during which time only one man became infected. Even in that case, there were several instances of vaginal and penile bleeding during intercourse.?
So even the small U.S. heterosexual figure appears grossly exaggerated.
So far as the townhall article - I notice you dumbasses, lacking in intellectual prowess will almost always resort to your pompous attempts at debunking by challenging a site or Authors credibility, regardless of how ironclad their argument is .
FYI The Authors :
John Potterat is author of 140 scholarly peer reviewed publications. He pioneered the first U.S. partner-tracing program for AIDS/HIV.
Stuart Brody, professor in Psychology at University of Paisley in Scotland, has published over 100 scholarly peer reviewed publications.
David Gisselquist has almost 60 scholarly peer reviewed publications and is currently working for the government of India on its explosive AIDS epidemic.
But of course you know better because you're Joe the ****** - ain't that right Pal ?
