This situation DOES involve the President of the United States, negotiating with terrorists, and thereby putting American fighting men and women at greater risk in future, because of the precedent-breaking and precedent-setting undertaken in this case.

A state of affairs which draws a shroud of doubt and ill-will over the case... an understandable outcome, arising from such stupidity... not to mention added concerns that the President may intervene in order to soften criticism of that stupidity.
