Civil Disobedience

Still avoiding the question I asked?

"Do you consider it practicing civility to light up where someone else has to breathe in your smoke?"

Nobody has to breathe the smoke from my cigarette, they used to have a choice what establishment they went into. They could choose non-smoking establishments.
You love using the government as your personal bully, don't you?
Continuing to avoid answering my question. Your avoidance answers it instead. You agree that smoking around other people in uncivil behavior.

The fact that you cannot comprehend the answer is your lack of ability to understand, not my lack of ability to explain it to you.

Smokers ruined it for themselves with their inconsiderate and militant refusal to curb their addiction
That is the truth. They were given a generous amount of time to clean up their act (many did actually) but the stupid ones persisted in their self centered ways. We still pay for their behavior in time and money spent policing them. They are no different than crackheads. Ecept crack heads are at least smart enough do do their drugs as far away from innocent people as possible.

So if they are there first and you light up a cigarette, you expect THEM to leave?

More evidence why we have to pass laws against smokers...they just don't get it

You missed the part about choosing what establishment somebody wants to walk into.
Try and keep up.

Your internet psychic abilities failed you again.

P.S.
Read the OP and post #24. (The parts about tips).

You think you can throw your money around and buy people with tips?

No one should have to suck it up to smokers because they control their earnings.

Not at all, you said that, not me.

Yer grasping at straws because your argument is a failure, so instead, you just want to project some evil thought about me.
When was the last time you were intellectually honest?
When was the last time you were intellectually honest enough to answer the question I've been asking you.

Anyone who reads your post about what you did to that poor waitress can see for themselves what a prick you are.
A word to the wise from someone who has worked in restaurants. Treat your server with respect because you can't see what is done with your food behind the kitchen doors.

Yes they can and do. It is only going to get togher mountain. Maybe you need to get better control of your addiction and quit whining......its not my problem pal
Eventually, they will use the same action to restrict something you do that is perfectly legal. I hope you like it.

Yea..yea....slippery slope BS

Smokers ruined it for themselves with their inconsiderate and militant refusal to curb their addiction

Tough luck pal...its only going to get worse
Government control will get worse.
Maybe you will lament like Niemöller when it happens to you.

Smoking is not perfectly legal. That you should be on my side because something similar will happen to you tactic is so pathetic. Whaaaah!

Since when was smoking against the law?
Do you think the government gets tobacco tax from the tobacco fairies?
Since it was banned in just about every indoor and some outdoor public places, that's where it's illegal. Are you really this dense?

Just because you don't like the answer doesn't mean I didn't answer it. I just refused to fall into your loaded question. You aren't that good.

I know all about working in a restaurant. Want to know what other types of work I've done?

Smoking isn't illegal.
Are you this stupid in real life?

No, you have never answered it. You know it's uncivil to smoke around other people but you won't admit it because you are too selfish and too addicted to stop doing it. Nicotine junkies are a lot like alcoholics. They allow nothing to come between them and their bottle or their cigarette.

Again, you are projecting.
Get a new argument.

First you claim I treated the waitress as beneath me (because you forgot I gave her a $12 tip on an $8 meal and thanked her for putting up with my antics - post #24), then you act all butt-hurt and claim I don't understand working as a food server (been there, done that). You just keep trying to claim I am something other than what I really am because you are a militant idiot. Then you whine that I didn't answer your question (which I did, you just didn't like the answer), all the while, you don't answer my questions (you have a double standard that compliments your idiocy).
Let me try again,
Why do you want the government to bully people for you?

To be fair, her position is to protect workers and patrons from the negative effects of smoking and what had amounted to smokers bullying their habit into the dining experience of the majority of others who do not smoke. As a non-smoker I am glad to have a non-smoking place to go to, but I still disagree that legal smoking establishments should be totally disallowed.

Tell that to the judge next time you get a fine for smoking in a non smoking area.

A $50 fine? Hahahahahahaha, like I give a shit.
You've got a mighty expensive habit at $50 a pop.

Don't worry if smokers like you continue to be arrogant assholes the fine will go up.

Shit, I'll just claim my smoking addiction is a disease, just like alcoholism and drugs, you can't fire, fine or prosecute somebody for a disease, can you? Might even get some free health care for it.

Or

Since I live at the border, and the state next door doesn't restrict the property rights of business owners, I can always be a patron next door. I just might send the dinner receipts to my state legislature, just to let them know what's happening.

Nahh, her position has been to attack personal property rights and individuals this whole thread.

Valerie, thank you for being clear and honest about the god(s) you bow down to.

If the market will bear it...
''If the market will bear it.''

The fundamental difference today between liberals and conservatives, and dare I say old time conservatives...the few that exist, is the idea that 'the market' is king.

Are we now to be salary or interest slaves to the invisible hand of the market? Can prosperity only come from the market? When did the market become god?

I am NOT saying I am anti market, but I am saying the market is a man made beast that must always be tamed.
..non-smoking workers and patrons have other options, why not???
Not all optiins are healthy.

case in point: why not allow drugs and porno to be sold within two feet of grade schools? surely we want to be able to allow the future to be free of regulation and constraints.
