Mr. Smith was called by Jesus Christ to be His Prophet. Like the Israelites of old, JW's reject their prophets.
Here is the fact. We study Jesus Christ. In fact, our Church is named after the Savior, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. So, not only did Jesus give the Prophet Joseph Smith the authority to clear up the improper translations of the Bible over the millenniums, he also gave the Prophet the knowledge of the secrets withheld from the apostates about the New and Everlasting Covenant. With that, we have other words of doctrine to study Jesus Christ: The Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants, The Book of Moses, The Book of Abraham and more.
What do JW's have? A bible uninspired of God. A bible uninspired and unauthorized by God. A bible that strips the power and authority of Jesus Christ. And, as with all other sects of Christianity, lacks the power and authority to perform all the saving and exaltation ordinances of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Then, there is the concept that JWs have that Jesus Christ died for their sins. But, in reality, they believe he died for only the rank and file 144,000. The rest of you are left out in the cold. Reminds of of the deception of the corporate dream where everyone smiles at everyone with the hope that those above them on the corporate ladder either gets sick, fired or dies so they can move up. You all are looking for others to screw up so you can move up to the rank and file 144,000. Sick.
Then, you don't understand what it means for Jesus to atone for your sins. See, Jesus is the father of the atonement. Thus, we become his children, sons and daughter of Jesus Christ. The definition of "Redeemer" of Israel means Jesus becomes our Father too. Thus, Father in Heaven and Jehovah (Jesus Christ) are both our fathers and thus, Gods. The Father and Son not only told this to the Prophet, but in a vision, he showed him too. And, that's why the Godhead told the Prophet not to join any of the other churches that claim to be Christians. They, like you, come close with their lips by they are far away with their hearts teaching doctrines and commandments of men, mingled with scriptures.
