Chinas Amazing Infrastructure Projects

The Chinese have made great advances in many fields, we in the UK have been talking for years and wasting money on HS2 high speed railway, i doubt it will ever happen, meanwhile in China.

Ride that at your own peril.

Blazing Saddles

China is completing construction of the highest bridge in the world.
It passes through the Grand Canyon of Huajiang and very soon will reduce the time of crossing the gorge from 70 minutes to 1 minute - the opening is scheduled for June 2025.

Economically, China today is America in the 1920s while America today is Gulliver tied down by the Lilliputians

I think a better comparison is Germany prior to WW1, when it rapidly industrialized and started challenging the then-dominant British Empire in naval and commercial strength.

Two world wars later, the British "Won", but they were so weakened they lost their empire.

Look at what they've done with commerce and economic priorities that benefits their nation! While the USA is focused on DEI and Carbon footprints China went all in on tech, ship building, infrastructure for starters

I agree, China shows the efficiency of a command economy over a free-market one.

I think I still like living in a free-market economy better, though.

I think its more national pride than command and control, plus there's a heritage of artists and artisans dating back thousands of years that never needed any government intervention. Some of my favorite videos show the process of making calligraphy ink or pottery.

Plus, there's Longyou caves

Didn't seem to be a lot of national pride when the cliffside tombs at the Three Gorges were flooded, washing ancient mummified remains out to float down water or quickly decompose at the base of the new dam. The millions of people whose homes were demolished probably weren't feeling too "proud." During the Cultural Revolution hundreds of ancient temples were demolished along with priceless artifacts. So proud.

Punkotard is upset that the Chinese came out on top over his heroes, the Japanese.

The Cultural Revolution was terrible... but the youth of the whole world were losing their minds at that time. Must have been something in the air.

As for the Three Gorges Dam, it's a marvel of engineering that provides power for millions of people and controls flooding to protect major cities like Wuhan.

.....
My heroes are the brave men of the US military who really won the war. China didn't come out on top of anyone but themselves. The rest of the world saved their asses - until they bit themselves in the ass.

Now who's playing the apologist, hypocrite?

Oh look, excusing an atrocity. You are shameless.

Nobody's perfect

Not at all. I just can't get worked up about it. It was stupid, but frankly, just not a big deal.
Oh look, excusing an atrocity. You are shameless.
What atrocity? It made the lives of millions of people better.

Wow, your history is shoddy. You should probably stop hanging out with Mormon Mike.

The USSR did most of the heavy lifting in World War II. We just took advantage.

Joeblow could not be making more of an ass of himself on this thread if he tried. I know he's got someone looking over his shoulder, but I hope it's worth it.
