China set off on what it hoped would be its first successful journey to Mars on Thursday, launching a combined orbiter, lander and rover to the red planet on a voyage that will last until next year.

If successful, the mission would affirm China’s place among the top spacefaring nations, able to plan and carry out complex interplanetary missions on its own. Only the United States and, briefly, the Soviet Union have previously succeeded in landing a vehicle on the planet.

As ever in China, the launch was shrouded in secrecy in advance, though unofficial video streams posted by Chinese viewers showed the vessel beginning to rise at 12:41 p.m. from the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site on Hainan Island, ringed by crystal blue waters.

Looks like we will be entering another space race. We will be launching our own mission soon as well. We need to step up our game!

You see you are playing right into the Chinese hands. You are a useful idiot for them. You know why? Because China revels in the fact the people like you and your ilk post lies and divisive shit like that. Division makes us weak. But you are too stupid to realize that.

The USA needs to lead the space race. That should be our goal.

Dude...clearly you're guilty of projection.
If you didn't fawn over the Chinese so much maybe you could get someone to buy your shit.

I don't think "Useful Idiot" means what you think it means.
My guess is English is your second language....at least your posts indicate the possibility.

Don't try to get over on someone who has been trained to spot a bullshit artist.

Whatever. Stick to the OP.

I think we should look at this from the military point of view. I mean, supposing the Chicom stashes away some big bomb, see. When they come back in ten years they could take over... In fact, they might even try an immediate sneak attack so they could take over our Mars surface space... I think it would be extremely naive of us, Mr. President, to imagine that these new developments are going to cause any change in Chinese expansionist policy. I mean, we must be... increasingly on the alert to prevent them from taking over other Mars surface space, in order to breed more prodigiously than we do, thus, knocking us out in superior numbers when we emerge! Mr. President, we must not allow... a Mars surface space gap!

Actually, not a bad strategy if you can do it. The spoils of war go to the victor, not the honorable.
The history of mankind is stolen assets, stolen property and stolen ideas. Unfortunately, that's the nature of the beast.

It's the FOOL who allows themselves to be ravaged that are to be laughed at. Including the US Military.
China has stolen vast amounts of US intelligence and state secrets.
Should have hired competent IT employees, and stop inviting Chinese spies into their house.
I would estimate there are more Chinese spies working in the US government than in the CCP all encouraged by our asinine laws
and outdated generosity.

This is not good, Red China is trying to communize Outer Space.

President Trump should launch a rocket, to intercept the communist spacecraft, and bomb the landing site on Mars.

Having America surrounded on all sides by a ultra liberal heavens isn't something that can stand.

I was fortunate enough to learn missile systems at Redstone Arsenal in Alabama where he was imprisoned er living while creating the US rocket program.

Mars is not where they suggest colonizing. It is one of the moons of Mars which hlds out better hope for a more stable object to inhabit.

So it wasn't enough for them to poison the world with their virus, now they want to infect Mars too?

Bastards.

Makes sense. I've heard that the moons of Mars are actually artificial satellites and possibly hollow. We'll still need to select a few men for war making strategery and sort ten times as many women for fertility and sexual desirability..

United Arab Emirates also launched a Mars mission last week.
I agree we need to step it up. But too many who enjoy the technology that space exploration has given us such as global communication, argue that it is all a waste of money.
Earth has a finite life span, no reason for humanity to follow suit.

Gee, hope those Commies don't know that. We could mine our way through the artificial surfaces to extract all that delicious gooey green nougat preserved within. But if they were to find out.. Mr. President, we simply cannot allow a Mars moon mineshaft gap!
