Chicago police officers en route to help federal agents who were being
surrounded and menaced by an angry mob of ICE protesters were seemingly ordered by their chief of patrol to stand down and not provide assistance, stunning dispatch audio and internal messages reveal.
The group of agents was conducting a routine patrol on the city’s South Side on Saturday “when they were attacked and rammed by vehicles and boxed in by 10 cars,” the
Department of Homeland Security said....
Local cops were initially prepared to help the agents, but were ordered to stand down by the chief of patrol, according to shocking dispatch audio transmissions....
“When the offending vehicle crashed, they ran the federal agent off the road, they fled on foot westbound.”
