Since Walmart and Whole Foods decided to cut their losses and close Chicago stores, some Chicago communities are now suffering from access to affordable groceries in their areas. So, Chicago is considering owning and running their very own grocery stores. Well, assuming that these stores will be non-profit, they still need to theoretically break even and not lose money, unless they are willing to subsidize losses (I guess through raising taxes).
Will they be paying a living wage to live in the Chicago area?
Will they accept very high shrink?
Will they provide enough security to keep their employees and customers safe?
Will they allow themselves to be sued if they don't provide enough security to keep their employees and customers safe?
Will they be forced to arrest more blacks than whites in regards to shoplifting and violence?
Or, will they want to make sure they follow progressive social justice policies which would make sure blacks are not arrested at a rate higher than their population percentage?
Will they allow illegals to work in the stores?
Is this a good idea or just more stupid progressive thinking?

'Power to communities': Chicago considers city-owned grocery store to address 'food deserts' after giants like Walmart and Whole Foods shutter stores
The mayor’s office says it would be the first major U.S. city to enact such a plan.
