Charlie Kirk Shot and Killed at Utah Valley University

I need to leave. Being on the same chat site as someone as slimy as IM2 is making my stomach turn. We have lost a good man today. A man who dared to go into the "belly of the beast" so to speak...college campuses...and debate others who didn't hold his political views! That's a sign of courage. Shooting someone from a distance with a high powered rifle is the ultimate act of a coward.

So, you see no controversial speech. Fine Opinions vary.
Personally, I had no major problem with Kirk, and abhor the senseless violence that end his relatively young life, (younger than my twins) even if I disagreed at times with what he supported. Of course, I am not the type to be swayed to violence by the mere words of somebody supporting what I, do not.

But, it cannot be denied, those people are out there. They are out there on the fringes of the left and right, (as Gabby Gifford can attest to) the two areas of society attacked as less than human, at times. People on the right and left pay little attention to how they incite, or how nut balls on the opposite side might take their attacks. People who wish to be leaders, must learn how to express themselves in other than attack mode, and if speaking in public, should consider, security. I say this, because grief, along with thoughts and prayers, do little, and think the two sides should tone down their rhetoric, if not for the good of the country, than with some thoughts of personal safety, or at least thoughts of security arrangements.
Specifically who on the right do you think needs to tone down their rhetoric? Your political leaders on the left are literally calling our leaders, their supporters, LEOS .. Hitler, Nazis, fascists ....

I suspected that Charlie was putting himself out there too much earlier this year.

I think Charlie made the mistake of believing that tight security was counterproductive to the message he was trying to convey of openness and unity, and believed that by being fair and open, reasonable and inclusive, civil and respectful giving any liberal the chance to vent any view, argument or opinion they wished, that this would free him from attracting crazies.

Chubby little IM2 pretending to be internet tough guy. I figured you would be all over Charlie Kirk's assassination. A perfect opportunity to up your Reaction Score. You are the definition of a LOSER.
Why does IM2racist comolain about whites being racist, and then address a white poster as “listen, white man” and make references to his “white ass”? He’s the most divisive, hateful bigot on this board, and the bar is pretty low.

He also has repeatedly called me a whore.

More like evil was defeated today.
When stuff like this happens, evil speaks the loudest. From the barrel of a gun, or from the tongues of men.

However, Charlie was neither.

The college kids who chose to debate him? They clearly had more courage than you. People like you are afraid to have your views challenged.

That’s pretty much what he said too.
Not sure that is what he said. Some seem to think he was advocating for some "acceptible" level of deaths so we could have the 2nd. I am not sure that is the case.

It’s just pretty easy to say that when it’s just some random kid killed.
Kid or anyone you don't know. That is human nature. It's a trap we can all fall into.

TPUSA is going to have been pretty stiff lipped about the 2nd given the question that will follow.

Right wingers seem to be taking this harder.

I am not a TPUSA fan, but Kirk was a titular leader. Especially with the young. This is seen as an assault on our ability to participate in the public arena. No doubt about how we are seeing it.
I am not sure what can be done anyway other than thoughts and prayers.

That will be the interesting point. Clearly this would be an opening for the left to see if this creates any cracks in the 2nd Amendment armor. We'll see. It's a much much more personal conversation now.
Bottle is out of the genie. Guns are everywhere. Just takes a right wing or left wing nut to shoot someone.
We've been doing this since the start of the country. Most people have forgotten how Hamilton died.

Our problem now, IME, is social media. Something can get a lot more momentum a lot faster if it breaks open.

I don't expect civil war. My concern has been a more localized conflict....like in a small city. It could grow like a brush fire to a full on forest fire very very fast.

Not for democrats. This is going to hurt your party tremendously. We will bash you over the heads with this for many years. I think you will lose the midterms over it.
Sure. How? By voting hard? Uh,. Ok.
