On the second, some here have contended it deflected off his bulletproof vest and traveled upward toward his carotid.

On that, I would have to disagree. Having some actual past pedigree as a forensic image and document analyst, I see no evidence to support that.

1. I studied the best video available of the shooting in freeze frame, one split second at a time.
2. Had the bullet struck the chest vest, there would have been a mark left (damage to the fabric of the shirt) and movement of the vest seen as it impacted and rebounded the energy.
3. The bullet would have had a very low grazing incident angle of impact, but the photo suggests the trajectory of the bullet was tangential to the body. And had the impact angle been that low, the bullet would have exited the neck or back of the head leaving obvious splatter also driving the head forward not back. The video showed no obvious splatter of blood behind the head nor body.
4. IMO, the assailant was aiming for a head shot single round sure kill and the aim traveled a bit low and/or Kirk's own movements threw off the mark.

Third, this is a very rare occurrence, and it needs to be distinguished. His impact was felt by millions of young people throughout the world.

If the killer is indeed a disgruntled transgender, the sad thing in all of this besides the tragic loss of Kirk himself is the harm this will do to the whole transgender industry besides probably doubling Kirk's impact by a fleet of new and fresh young people stepping forward now to fill Charlie's shoes refusing to be oppressed and intimidated.
