One can only hope that this is real, and Trump gets to prove his case. That is, if his accusations were truthful, it ain't slander.
The so-called Central Park 5 all PLED GUILTY! And if you want to suppose that they were coerced into confessing, there were both parents and defense counsel present when they pled guilty. No coercion; they were guilty as hell.
The confusion comes up because of the odd fact that no DNA was discovered linking the CP5 to the victim, but another DNA source was noted, and the trial acknowledged that there was a sixth attacker, identity unknown.
But that sixth attacker later surfaced as a lifer in a NY prison - a fellow with a fatal medical condition, so he didn't care about one more crime on his record - and he acknowledged that he raped the victim.
At that point, every Leftist from Manhattan to Beijing screamed that THE CP5 ARE INNOCENT! This guy was the perp!
But this is nonsense. The identification of the 6th attacker had no bearing on the guilt of the CP5, except to someone so totally defective that they can't use facts or logic.
Enter Mayor DeBlasio. HE took it upon himself to facilitate full exoneration of these guilty bastards AND giving them millions of dollars for their time and trouble. Not HIS money, of course.
One can only hope that they do sue President Trump for defamation, and the suit comes to trial. While NYC juries have shown themselves to be collectively idiots, the exposition of the facts during trial should be sufficient to remind New Yorkers (and anyone else with an interest) of how fucked up this case ultimately was.
