The article does a pretty good job explaining how wrong you are. You should have read it.

They didn’t withdraw “the” PCR test. They withdrew a PCR test, the one made by the CDC. They withdrew it because there’s no need for the CDC to make a test since there’s so many commercial PCR tests.

They’re not replacing it with anything. They’re suggesting that labs switch to commercially available tests that run influenza and COVID simultaneously.
