Hospitals on high alert for new, more contagious COVID-19 strain

Hospitals in the United States are on high alert for the new, more contagious COVID-19 strain that first surfaced in the United Kingdom and has since shown up in Colorado, California and now Florida.

Florida health officials announced this week they have evidence of the first identified case of the strain in Martin County. In a Twitter post Thursday night, the state's health department said the man is in his 20s with no history of travel.

The fast-moving virus arrives as cases continue to rise at an unrelenting pace, CBS News' Tom Hanson reports. More than 160,000 new COVID-19 infections were reported across the country on Friday, pushing the total number of cases above 20 million on the first day of 2021.

Just in case you thought 2021 was going to be some relief by the marxist parasites.

No surprise. The fearmongers seem to be running short on creativity. When the effect of their previous round of fearmongeri9ng is dying down, and people are waking up from it, instead of making up a whole new threat with which to try to scare us, they're just stepping up their exaggerations of the previous fake threat.

They really think most of us are that stupid, and sadly, too many of us really are.

Yep, the mutated strain of COVID 19 started in the UK, and moved to Europe. Now? There have been a couple of cases of the new virus in CO and CA. However, even though it is more contagious, doctors have said that this new strain can be overcome via current treatments and vaccines.

NOW they're leaving out critical information.

The strain is much more contagious, BUT FAR LESS DEADLY

Why do they insist on keeping the panic level high for the leftist snowflakes?
Useful idiots

Actually, the mutated virus is about the same as the current one, only thing is, it is much more contagious. Currently, doctors say that the treatments they have, as well as the vaccines that have been developed are just as effective against the new strain.

A morphed strain and NOT deadlier?
I ain't buying it!
It's just a Neo-Marxist new Dimm narrative to keep muppets fear-ridden!

Within 2 days AFTER the new strain was announced in Britain, exspurts had already determined the new variant was not 20%, not 40%, not 60%, but 70% more contagious than the original W-Virus!!!
How the hell did they determine those percentages in such a short period of time!!!
They must think we're mushrooms!
