This time switch is still invalid.
It is true that right after the Civil War, southerners disliked republicans as being the "party of Lincoln".
So then traditionally called themselves democrats.
Southern conservatives used to be democrats.
But that has noting to do with modern times, when republicans became the party of the wealthy instead of the "party of Lincoln".
Now southern conservatives are republicans.
The switch happened in the 1960s and 1970s.

So historical events involving southern democrats and race, are invalid for current use if they are before 1960.
The biggest switch happened in 1964 when LBJ pushed southern democrats to back his civil rights bill.

Another mistake you are making is claiming that the southern democrats defined the democratic party.
They did not, since the democratic party was larger than the south and pre-existing.
The republican party did not even exist at all until 1854, so everyone was a democrat before then.

Small but vital correction.
Republicans did not become the party of the wealth. Instead they recognized the importance of the business owner and set policies that allowed the business owner to thrive....which means the business owner employees prosper and the community enjoys and capitalizes on the services of the business owner.
