Are Democrat voters ok with this now? You have our permission to apply tariffs. They aren't going to destroy your consumers but they might curtail assisting nations who may not share your values or have your interests at heart.

Don't feel too bad, China uses tariffs too.

OTTAWA — The federal government is imposing tariffs on Chinese-made electric vehicles as well as aluminum and steel from China in an effort to protect domestic manufacturing.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced in Halifax today that Canada will impose a 100-per-cent tariff on electric vehicles, along with 25 per cent tariffs on aluminum and steel.

Tariffs are just another word for tax.

This is racist, right?

If used properly, it can be used to force the companies that bailed out of your country in the 1980/90s to return home and manufacture in either the US or Canada.

Right, so it can have a long term effect of more jobs in the U.S. as companies return.

Not just service jobs or government, tax payer paid for jobs which are the majority of new jobs now.

Then I guess nobody has been using them properly

Rather than target a large group, target specific corporations like Black and Decker, Auto parts of US Autos (whether they carry the traditional names or not), plastics, batteries, windmill equipment, and more. Just go after a company that gets over 70% of their wares from China. Like Wallmart which caused much of the early on exodus to China.

Before Reagan, they were. But during Reagans years, the loosened up the laws that protected it that companies were leaving in droves. Buy up a smaller company, shut it down, then have China do the manufacturing keeping the name like Black and Decker. Or even Ford Replacement Parts for instance.

WalMart only carries what the people are willing to buy.

You didn't hear that zenith was told by walmart to sell at a rate where they would have to manufacture in China. Zenith got out of the TV Business rather than do that. RCA was told the same thing by Walmart except they moved their manufacturing to China to meet the price. A friend of mine was selling custom jackets (there were nothing like them and he had them copyrighted). I told a Walmart buyer about them and Walmart Buyer invited to view his jackets. The Buyer told him what they were willing to pay for them which was well below his manufacturing costs. He turned Walmart down. A few months later, a copy of his jackets were on the racks in Walmart. Yes, they were copyrighted but he didn't have the multi million dollars to win a court decision and that would have taken years. And Walmart would still be selling their knockoffs.

Cools story, bro.

Amazon is the largest retailer of Chinese-made goods in the world. You know, your fellow lefty Jeff Bezos' company?

If we listen to the globalists pretty soon everything we have will be made in china

Thats not good for Americans

If you would pay attention you would know that China is already starting to lose a lot of manufacturing and companies are now moving to places like India and Malaysia.

I have been paying attention and already posted about the migration of manufacturing away from communist china on other threads

Yet you just said that everything was going to be made there.
