Jan 5 (Reuters) - Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to announce as early as Monday that he will resign as Liberal Party Leader, The Globe and Mail reported on Sunday, citing three sources.

The sources told the Globe and Mail that they don't know definitely when Trudeau will announce his plans to leave but said they expect it will happen before a key national caucus meeting on Wednesday.

The Canadian prime minister's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment outside regular business hours.

(Pre)Congrats, Canada. :)

That said I'll believe it when I see it.....Leftists don't relinquish power easily and he has gone full blown dictator again, pulling every trick out of his playbook to stay in power, even though EVERYBODY wants him gone.

If memory serves correctly, Canada's Liberals lost quite a bit of ground in the October 2024 elections, didn't they?

Sounds like the Canadian "Blue" party is trying to get its act together well in advance of the American "Blue" party.

Our own Democrats are in such a state of shock and denial at the moment that it will be months before they can objectively and honestly analyze their loss without a set of rose-colored glasses as a filter against various Inconvenient Truths.

Our own Democrats are in need of a Safe Space in which to procrastinate before they embark on that long painful journey.

And, unlike the Canadians, they really don't have a Leader at this juncture.

good for canada, liberal wanker has like 22% approval rating and has set them back years

You sound angry. What did he do to you, he's not your president. As it were, unless.CBC reports this I wouldnt be too sure. Whoever runs wll lose, it is a constant see saw between two parties. Not as much separating them as Americans might think. Boondoggles on both sides, we dont have any Rand Pauls in Canada, socially or fiscally.
