That's good salesmanship.

The painting is not bad. The colors are vivid and not muted, which is difficult to prevent when doing the abstract style. The artist had to wait for the paint to dry before putting a different color on top of another.

The brownish purple background at the center left is out of balance more than the other background colors. The blue background at center right is drawing too much attention because it is so bright next to the brownish purple background.

Maybe the buyer has a good placement for the painting.

The color brown is out of place and the yellow and orange area on the left distracts from the rest of the painting. So there was no thought put into it. Who ever paid 500, 000.00 is going to have one angry spouse when they check there bank balance.
