When social security was first initiated there were forty four workers to each recipient. Now there are three. This is one of the reasons it's stupid to offer the benefit out to people who have never paid into the system. The massive immigration numbers could be helpful if they are done correctly. Letting people migrate here who don't contribute to the system but become a net negative on the system definitely will bring about the insolvency of government programs like social security and Medicare in short order.
I haven't decided whether or not the government is purposely following the Cloward<> Piven plan or if it's just something that's happening.

When the trust runs out benefits get reduced with current estimates being about 25% reduction.

I feel very lucky, my wife and I have planned for retirement, and surely SS is part of the plan. But a 25% reduction in SS results in an overall 7% reduction in pre-tax income if the cut happens. 7% is a chunk, true. But we'll be OK. Others will be in much worse shape.
