Can Trump Be Trusted With Social Security?

I retired two years ago. I retired early at 62 and got a reduced retirement. I was finally approved for SSDI 3 months later, and I got 15 months back pay for SSDI. I now draw the equivalent of my full retirement had I waited until 67.
I did not know you could do that. Did you apply for SSDI the same time you signed up for the early retirement?

Exactly, but that is still three years away.
There is a social security specialist that I watch and he said one guy was 80 and wondered when his SSDI would end? Some people believe they are on SSDI in their late 70's, not knowing it converted when they hit FRA.

Are you retired? Are you drawing SS retirement? How many other people are like you that draw SSI in addition to their retirement? Your answers will tell if you have a clue!

Yes. And Yes. I don't know. I retired around 20 years ago. I don't believe Trump will ruin SS.

Yes. Exactly. They initially turned me down and then it was reviewed and approved. I found out when on a trip in August and I was notified by my bank of a $10K deposit of back pay. That was a pleasant surprise.

Republican have never proposed cuts to Medicare or SS. Democrats have cut Medicare repeatedly. You need to vote for Republicans and not for Democrats based on their lies.
Factually under Biden my drug prices went up triple for 2 of the drugs. I also was able to get 90 days supply under Trump but not today I get a 1 month supply.

For you to be on SSI, you would have had to have been retired and applied to receive supplemental income. I am betting you do not receive SSI but just your regular retirement SS. You are using the wrong term for your SS.

From the SSA.gov web page: SSI provides monthly payments to people with disabilities and older adults who have little or no income or resources.

OK. Gotcha now. I agree that SS recipients should not have to pay money on their payments, like yours truly, but I don't make enough to pay anyway.
I am still waiting. Two more years I’m 70. I’m supposed to feel sorry for someone fifty? Fk that. It’s a scam. I’ve missed three years of receiving my money cause I still work? Demofks haven’t a clue. Money that is mine and I’ve paid tax on

What about the increased benefits for those paying more into SS? Yoru benefits depend on how much you paid in, so unless you means test, you have accomplished nothing.

He didn't say to raise that cap.

In the legislation the income cap can be raised, and the payout cap left in place.

Not saying it's fair, but such action is possible.

I did not know that you could apply for SSDI and still take early retirement.

I took early retirement 2 years ago because I just couldn't physically put in the hours I needed to keep my business profitable. I would have qualified for SSDI, but I didn't apply because I couldn't afford to wait the two years to start receiving the benefit.

So I took the reduced benefit because it was a guaranteed way to start receiving my SS immediately.

Be thankful you are healthy enough to wait until then. I quit work in April because of my health and drew nothing for 8 months until I could retire at 62.
Sorry to hear about your health. Hope you’re doing well today

When I applied for my retirement at 62, they asked if I was disabled and if I want to apply for SSDI. Initially I was turned down and it took over a year and a half for them to grant me the disability. It increased my benefit by over $600 a month, so I received back pay for well over a year.

Republicans like this one would gladly take away your Social Security
