True, they might shoot at someone, but what if who they shoot at is not the person who dials them which is what leads me to this questions, who made the phone call to them in the first place and why? Who dialed them saying that an intruder was on the loose?

P.S. To me, if it only ended up being a prank phone call, I hope that the person who made it is not only found, but charged with murder for what went on to happen to the woman. I wouldn't be surprised if it was done by someone who knew the woman and only wanted to make the law look bad.

Usually they give the person 2 seconds to drop a weapon, and I'll bet that's the case here. It will be good to look at the body cam footage.

Yes...it's possible that the cops could have resolved the situation by hanging back. Unfortunately they often feel they need resolution immediately. They aren't trained nearly enough in de-escalation.

But once they were put in harms way (or put themselves in harms way) they had no choice but to act as they did.
