Gee, I wonder what kind of cretin would put this on their vehicle. I can guess.

Anyway, at least the DMV is going to revoke it.

The Department of Motor Vehicles has issued an apology over a California license plate that openly mocked the Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel by Hamas.

On Thursday, the license plate in question, which was on a Tesla Cybertruck, was spotlighted in a post to X by StopAntisemitism, a group “dedicated to fighting anti-Semitism.”

I wonder if they'd issue "LOLGAZA"?

A sick human being.

We shall all be judged, even those who don't believe they won't be.

There are zombies around the world, on both sides of any conflict. Few proudly advertise that they are zombies though.

Yep, hard to believe they 'missed' this. It's California, so none of us should be surprised.

Do you have any idea how many vanity plates have been issued in California? How many are requested every year? Month? Week?

It's inevitable that at some point something offensive will get through. Not to mention the fact that the DMV is no more inclined to hire especially bright people than say McDonald's. This is true of any DMV/MVD in any state in the union.

This plate wasn't issued because "it's California." It was issued because whoever reviews the request didn't make the connection, they were unable to decipher the meaning of the combination. Who knows why? How often are you unable to determine what the meaning is behind a vanity plate you see in your area?

Who does the plate belong to?

How about the bio on that person?

I'm not saying the person who asked for the plate isn't an asshole, that much is obvious. The message in the letter/number combination is repugnant.

What I am saying is that, while the blame for it slipping through ultimately falls on whichever lazy/overworked/unimaginative (pick your adjective) DMV employee(s) is/are responsible for reviewing requests for vanity plates, it wasn't approved because it's California.

A left wing commie cult **** in a Tesla?

Did they get the memo that Musk = Hitler?

I bet you could get away with FJB46.

SMDFJB

I do not have a big issue with the antisemitic license plate

I doubt they would issue LOL911. (911 is probably illegal in a vanity plate.)

I get it, some are hard to decipher. This one is not.

It could go deeper than than

Is the sordid hate the plate represents home grown or imported?

Is it a professor at a prestigious cal university or a member of the california legeslature?

I’m curious to know the answer to that question

For you and I, and most likely the larger population, sure. My wife deciphered it, but couldn't immediately remember the significance of the date, but she did say she would look it up if she had seen the plate.

Some lazy, unimaginative, inattentive, unhappy DMV employee? Could miss it. Could be he or she is a bit disgruntled and let it through just to be an asshole... Hell, I will even allow for an employee sympathetic to Hamas. I do know for a fact that California rejects many submissions, I myself had one rejected back in 2006 because they didn't interpret the submission the way I did.

You will never know. Give up.

I saw a license plate the other day that said "SNWFLK" and I had to wonder how they voted..

But then, it was a white car so maybe it was just a theme thing...
