California Implosion Continues

Amazing how the left never sees that every time they put one of these ridiculous wage increases into effect, jobs are lost and businesses close. This seems to fit the definition of insanity. Keep doing the same thing over and over hoping for that different result that never materializes.

Damn right!

The last thing America needs is a well paid workforce!
Well paid doesn’t mean overpaid. Cost of living varies place to place and state to state. One size fits all has also never worked.

Left destroy everything they touch.
And they wonder why inner cities are food deserts.

Grocery chain Kroger said it closed down two California stores Saturday after the Long Beach City Council approved a COVID-19-related “hero pay” ordinance that increased wages by $4 per hour.

The pay increase, mandated in January, was for workers who were employed at pharmacies and retail stores with 300 or more employees in the Southern California city.

Kroger can't afford a few bucks more at a 5 stores? I'm sure there are many other grocery shopping options to people in LA and Long Beach. Kroger will pay a ton more than that in unemployment benefits alone. Fuck 'em.
That’s the thing with you Leftards, you have no concept of running a business. That $4/hr is about $12/hr for Kroger after taxes businesses pay.

With the influx of illegal aliens Joe’s letting in who’ll work for room and board, your bs is showing again.

The law of unintended consequences rears its ugly head.

If government mandated higher wages was the solution to poverty, wouldn't life be fine?

How long will it take for Leftists to realize that it's an illusory benefit?
Being Left means never having to say you’re sorry. Everything they touch causes destruction. Everything. No generalization. Everything.

That is why I call the former golden state fruit and nut land.

Both of those stores are now closed and Kroger is closing 3 more in Los Angeles because they did the same hero pay garbage.
Gods forbid they pay a decent wage for coming in during a Pandemic.

If the person's wages exceed their added value to the end product or service due to this law, what is Kroeger supposed to do?

Supermarket margins are extremely thin, should they operate at a loss?
Are you saying that Grocery store workers, coming in to keep up supplies during a pandemic are not worth it? I guess they all could have stayed home. That would have been fine since they weren't really that important in your eyes....
How about telephone workers, electrical utility workers. and hundreds of other occupations that came to work every day during the epidemic?

The stores that are closed had a very thin profit margin due to robberies and shoplifting. A $4.00 an hour raise means that the store would be operating at a loss. The activists insisting that the stores remain open are saying that because the company makes a profit overall, they can afford to operate stores at a loss. No business will operate at a loss. The stores were right to close.

The impact of Amazon Fresh shopping also probably had a rough impact on the margin. I know I switched to using Amazon and haven't switched back because tbh its just too damn convenient.
I use Amazon for things I can't find locally. Day before yesterday I went to five supermarkets looking for cornstarch. No one had it. I ordered it from Amazon and had it yesterday.

Irony...

Barbara Hughes, left, a cashier at Food 4 Less in Palmdale, hands a flier to a customer, notifying her there had been 22 confirmed cases of COVID-19 at the store in December.

Food 4 Less workers protest outside the store at 2185 E. South St. in Long Beach on Feb. 3. The group had condemned the parent company’s actions to close two locations because of the city’s emergency ordinance to temporarily pay workers an extra $4 per hour in “hazard” wages.

People working at those stores face a threat. Mostly from anti masker assholes & other right wing morons who refuse to follopw COVID guidelines.
Lol, I don't wear a mask and refuse to shop at Costco and target that requires a mask. But you are a great tool.

But I'm alive and well. Keep being a tool for your party!

The effects of socialism are being felt everywhere. With few exceptions small business is no longer functional. Meanwhile Amazon is doing great, and the cost for everything is skyrocketing.

You PROGS voted for this. Must feel good to know you've played a hand in destroying the country, because that's who you are.
