California high speed rail may change terminus location

To be functional at all, high speed rail has to express from major station to major station. The SP Coast Daylight was non-stop between downtown S.F. and downtown L.A..

The problem with that configuration is that you have to have a sufficient number of people in downtown SF that want to go to downtown LA, and vice versa, for the plan to be viable.
 
Frankfurt to Lyon, with the TGV. Six hours, how does that compare?
