No easy solutions but one thing I do know is that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Probably would have been easier to fill up your fire hydrants before fire season, than to leave them empty and watch the wildfires burn down McMansions all over the place. I would be very worried if I lived in California, about the cost of living. Of course, illegal aliens and those on the government dole will be fine, but John Q. Middleclass taxpayer is going to get the shaft once again.

Mansions are not middle-class.
Did I say they were?

What I said was, that the middle class person is going to get screwed, with higher taxes and higher insurance premiums.

Meanwhile government out there just keeps rolling along, taking a bigger piece of the pie.

Why is California in the insurance business. There are other companies, if State Farms premiums are too high, get another insurance company.

What piece of what pie?

The wildfires in suburban LA this year are actually an opportunity for the city to reverse the injustices of White Flight. The inner city neighborhoods like Watts and South Central weren't touched at all by the fires.

Replacing the burned homes with inner city tenements would help with the equity in Los Angeles, and give the city a chance to build up its subways.

I know a great way to put out the wildfires in California - let the state fall into the ocean.
