Cafeteria Worker Sentenced to 9 Years in Prison for Stealing $1.5 Million Worth of Chicken Wings from School

9 years for Theft of Chicken seems like a pretty stiff sentence for a non-violent criminal, particularly in a pro-crime jurisdiction like Cook County.

You have to be really stupid to think someone isn't going to notice 1.5 million goes missing from a school budget

It doesn't say what she did with the chicken wangs.

AOL sucks.

This just means she forgot to pay her bosses their cut, is all. Chicago and Cook County were famous for selling teaching jobs in their public schools; you had to pay around $2,000-$4,000 to get hired. 60 Minutes did an undercover cam story on it a while back.

Maybe it is because the food was stolen from a school.

God bless you always!!!

Holly

P.S. I wonder what kind of sentence would've been given to her if she had done her stealing from a church instead.

How long did it take school officials to realize that the refrigerated truck outside the cafeteria was loading stuff instead of unloading? Maybe it's the old Johnny Cash song "I took it one piece at a time and it didn't cost me a dime". In that case it must have been about ten years worth of stuffed pockets. Sometimes you gotta wonder.

Some years ago, I read where at some areas there is a lot of waste including contractors delivering products that were close to go past their usage. Vegetables and fruits and other perishables also. Employees not using First in first out and products would go bad. So, if these things happen someone with some felonious tendencies could do what this person did. Chicken wings are good.
