Lets see, swore he wouldn't go to jail, refused to surrender to a lawful warrant for his arrest, resisted arrest, led the cops on a high speed car chase, tried to run a police blockade, and then reached for a 9 mm handgun in his pocket.

My sympathies are with the Oregon State Trooper and his family. Taking a human life is going to be with that Trooper for the rest of his life. HE's being called 'evil', 'treasonous', having 'murder in his heart', with militia head jobs calling for 'vengeance' and his life.

All because the officer wouldn't let a criminal thug running from the law draw a pistol from his pocket and murder him in cold blood.

Contact ranches and groups who have learned how to work with the BLM and government and copy what they are doing. Adjust and adapt to make their business plans work in the 21rst Century. Ranchers are doing it all over the country and Americans all over the country in different industries and businesses have had to learn how to adjust and adapt without turning to armed takeovers. Some grazing lands are more valuable for other uses. It isn't the taxpayers job to automatically subsidize every rancher who is not able to deal with the changing times.

BLM Sued for $30 Million For Rustling Another Nevada Rancher’s Cattle

Long before Cliven Bundy faced down federal agents in his dispute with the Bureau of Land Management over grazing rights, fellow Nevada rancher Raymond Yowell, an 84-year-old former Shoshone chief, watched as the BLM seized his herd.

Adding to that, since 2008 they’ve taken his money as well — in the form of a piece of his Social Security checks.

Yowell’s 132 head of cattle had grazed for decades on the South Fork Western Shoshone Indian Reservation in northeastern Nevada until 2002, when the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) — the same agency at odds with Bundy — seized them. The federal agency sold the cattle at auction and used the proceeds to pay off the portion of back grazing fees it claimed Yowell owed. Once the cattle was sold, the agency sent Yowell a bill for the outstanding balance, some $180,000. They’ve been garnishing his monthly Social Security checks since 2008 to satisfy the debt Yowell says he does not owe.

“There’s a definite pattern in the West, beginning in the 1990s, maybe in the late ’80s, of what I feel are illegal cattle seizures,” Yowell said. “[Bundy’s case] is the latest example of that pattern.”

A federal judge in Eugene, Ore., gave the father and son credit for time served but ordered them to serve the remainder of their mandatory five-year sentences for burning BLM rangeland.

And the Hammonds chose to comply. In fact, they told the militia they didn't want them there and they wouldn't be speaking for them if they stayed.
