Carlos Ghosn, CEO of Renault and Chairman of Nissan received assurances from Theresa May that Nissan will be compensated for extra costs related to leaving the UK leaving the EU, e.g. import duties, certification costs, etc. if they went ahead with a planned expansion of a Nissan plant in England.
So, what the UK was contributing to the UK (getting a proportion back in EU investment) will now become the payment of subsidies to Nissan to cover EU customs duties. How ironic.
