Brexit dividend - 160000 vacancies in social care, Here come the filipinos

I'm just trying to get through to you what the EU is. You seem oblivious. There's no strawman whatsoever, I'm giving you a simple analogy.

Why do we pay 5% vat on energy when it was always 0%? Because of an EU directive to fund the disastrous renewable crap. We've left the EU, so when the country's finances permit, the government could scrap the 5% vat level. I do believe they mulled over it a little while ago.

You're pro EU, thus, you're pro 5% higher energy costs. I prefer it gets scrapped, families are struggling.
5% higher energy costs? Energy bills in the EU have risen on average by 41% since last year, (France 4%, Germany 23%, Italy 77% as examples) The UK by comparison, energy bills have risen by 215%.

So it appears that being anti EU you are pro 215% higher energy bills...

What on earth is wrong with you? Why do you keep flying off at a tangent?? Energy across the planet has flown through the ceiling, what's that got to do with Brexit?? The 5% vat level on energy was brought in in Europe by the EU parliament.

I'm pro 215%??? Where did you that idea from??? Are you mentally ill???

Is that it? EU bureaucracy? That's all you've got? Wow.

When we were in the EU we had input into so called "EU Bureaucracy", we could lobby, object and even propose changes along with other countries to alter or stop anything we didn't like and in all democratic systems, you win a few and you lose a few. The EU parliament has the final decision on what "bureaucracy" is necessary and what isn't.

No we have no say whatsoever, no influence, no pull. But the "bureaucracy" still affects us.

Here's a few examples of our new powerlessness:

Rather than spewing copy and paste dribble links, what have you lost when the UK left the EU dictatorship? Both brain cells this time.

OK, I'll say it again, this is what we lost:

So what have we actually gained? A nebulous "control" that we never lost in the first place?

The control we never lost. The control not allowed to sell fruit and veg in the market in the traditional imperial weights. The control not to sell bent cucumbers. The control not to forced into sending foreign aid money to countries where the heads of state squander the money. The control not to add 5% vat to energy bills. The control not to accept the EU's directives. The control to give up fishing rights, where the likes of landlocked Austria had rights to fish in UK waters.

Scientists, who received free money, no longer gets it. What a crying shame. Never mind scientists, get on with life.

That was repealed in 2009 at the UK and other member states' request.
The control not to forced into sending foreign aid money to countries where the heads of state squander the money.
Who did the EU send foreign aid to that we would have ojected to?
The control to give up fishing rights,
We also gained fishing rights, and Austria and other landlocked states have no fishing rights in any event.
The control not to add 5% vat to energy bills.
True. Businesses in the UK have to pat VAT at 20%, while in the EU VAT rates for both business and domestic have been reduced to between 5-10%
The control not to accept the EU's directives.
Well we do have to accept EU directives if we want to export to the EU, we just no longer have any say or influence on those directives, see the fruit and veg above.

Low quality trolling. Our lives are worse in every way.

Oh, you mean those scientists at Astra Zenica? The EU contributed 34% of their research funds for the Covid vaccine. Roll on the next pandemic and see what our new "contol" accomplishes.
Ive been reading articles about our scientists being cut out of EU programmes.
It apppears that newly free britain is not inclined to fund research and development. brexiters hate science anyway.
That will fuel the growth that truss is so keen to espouse.

Our clever people will now emigrate like they used to before we joined the EU.

The more remoaners that fuck off, the better. Why not join them.

Lol

Provide a list of how life is worse. Gonna piss myself over this one.
See post #120 and 125.

When you stop laughing, perhaps you can provide that list of Brexit benefits? I'm sure Jacob Rees-Mogg can help you out, after all, he is in charge of finding them...
