Ron Paul's 'Real' Ukraine Peace Plan

Authored by Ron Paul,

Last week’s surprise release of a draft Ukraine war peace plan has raised hopes that the nearly three-year bloody conflict may finally come to an end. Ukraine has suffered horrible losses that may change the demographics of that country for decades to come.

If this peace plan can be negotiated in a way that satisfies all sides and the guns finally go silent, I will be the first to cheer.

However, the continued failure to understand the nature and origin of the current conflict leaves me skeptical that a real peace can be reached this way.

From the Orange Revolution in the early 2000s to the Maidan revolution in 2014, the US and its NATO partners have been interfering in Ukraine’s internal affairs in attempt to manipulate the country into a hostile position toward its much larger and more powerful neighbor, Russia.

We must remember how directly coordinated the 2014 coup was by the United States.

US Senators, including John McCain and Lindsey Graham, were on the main square of a foreign capital demanding that the people overthrow their duly elected government. Victoria Nuland was caught on a telephone call planning who would run the post-coup government.

Outside intervention led us to the terrible situation of today. This peace deal is another chapter in that same intervention, with the US and its partners desperately trying to manage and solve a problem that they created in the first place. Can you solve a problem created by outside intervention with more intervention?

For the entirety of this conflict politicians and the media have been unwavering in blaming Russia entirely for what has occurred. I agree that they’re no angels. But the real villains here are the US neocons and their European counterparts who knew it was suicidal for Ukraine to take on Russia but pushed Ukraine to keep fighting anyway. Early in the conflict a deal was on the table and nearly signed that would end the war, but the neocon former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson demanded that Ukraine keep fighting.

Ukraine is the victim here, I agree. But it is as much a victim of the US and European neocons as of the Russians.

They believed they could put NATO on Russia’s doorstep and face no consequences. If the tables were turned and a hostile China set up a new Latin American military alliance with the US as its designated enemy, would we sit by idly as military bases were constructed on our southern border? I don’t think so.

President Trump promised he would end the war 24 hours after he was elected. It was an unrealistic boast, but he actually could have ended it rather quickly. The antidote to intervention Is non-intervention. Biden drug us into the war, that is true. But Trump could have pulled us out by quite simply ending all US involvement. No weapons, no intelligence, no coordination. No need for sanctions or the threat of sanctions, no need for elaborate peace plans.

A real peace deal would realize that it was always idiotic to believe that Ukraine could stand up to Russia’s war machine – even with NATO’s backing.

It is unimaginably cruel to demand that Ukraine keep fighting our proxy war down to the last Ukrainian.

No 28-point plans can fix this. The real fix is much simpler: walk away.

tl;dr

Any text of the actual agreement?

You can always tell when the blob is ashamed of what he’s done... There is no sharpie, no press gaggle in the Oval office. No signing ceremony...nothing but an announcement on social media. I can’t blame tubby for being ashamed; he got his diaper changed on the world stage.

Looking like a MOU (peace deal) expected to be signed Friday between the US and Iran. Israel has been left out of negotiations and isn't happy.

Israel is trying to f it up of course and the headlines there suggest they are very unhappy with what is expected to be in the deal.

Part of the deal is that Israel stop all military action in Lebanon and of course Israel went and bomber Beirut again today.

So Israel is just doing what the fat rapist did, but now the fat rapist wants to stop, because he realized he fked up. And Israel is not ready to stop.

Or so it would seem. But who knows what Trump really wants. He lies so much it's hard to take anything he says as fact. This whole ceasefire agreement could just be rhetoric.

Wrong again.

Funny how Mr. Edgy Massie Lassie Loser consistently sides with the Leftist Legacy "Media".

It's almost as if you've been co-opted and completely don't even recognize it.

Smell ya later, bozo.

Only the MOU was signed. Geezus, try to keep up. This is just a ceasefire deal. Nothing more than the first ceasefire "deal."
It's just being embellished more than the others.

What the deal covers (based on statements so far):
  • Extends the ceasefire for 60 days.
  • Opens the Strait of Hormuz (Trump posted on Truth Social: “Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!” and authorized lifting the U.S. naval blockade).
  • Sets up a framework for further negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program (Iran committing to forgo nuclear weapons long-term with verification, in exchange for conditional sanctions relief).

The left was never MAGA or America 1st. Massie is more America 1st than Trump ever dreamed.

I know you RINO's can't stand fiscal conservatives. They lean too far to the right for y'all.

With Trump’s Iran deal, the October 7 wars are over. Israel really has no idea what to do next

Netanyahu promised a new Middle East and total victory over enemies. Having failed to stop Trump’s hugely problematic Iran deal, Jerusalem is being left behind, vulnerable, in a changed region

Two days after the Hamas attack of October 7, 2023, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised that “we are going to change the Middle East.”

That phrase was used by Netanyahu repeatedly over the next two and a half years, as Israel went to war against Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran.

“We turned Israel into a regional power that deters and defeats its enemies,” Netanyahu boasted in March, at the height of the US-Israeli campaign against Iran...
It is today painfully obvious that this is not the outcome Israel wanted, nor is it the outcome other US allies in the region expected, when the two allies went to war a little over 15 weeks ago.

Trump and his staff made explicit promises at the outset of the war. “Our objectives are clear,” Trump said on March 2. “First, we’re destroying Iran’s missile capabilities… Second, we’re annihilating their navy… Third, we’re ensuring that the world’s number one sponsor of terror can never obtain a nuclear weapon… And finally, we’re ensuring that the Iranian regime cannot continue to arm, fund, and direct terrorist armies outside of their borders.”

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said repeatedly that dealing with Iran’s missile program and its proxies was a stated objective of the operation.

The exact details of the MOU remain unclear, but in no version leaked to the media does the agreement touch on ballistic missiles or Iran’s support for terror groups.

It will, rather, provide for an end to US military operations and blockade in exchange for Iran reopening the Strait of Hormuz and agreeing to talk about its nuclear program, while enjoying some sanctions relief. Trump will get reduced prices at the gas pump ahead of the midterms.

But the US will not have definitively blocked Tehran’s path to the bomb, nor will it have removed Iran’s 440-kilogram stockpile of highly enriched uranium. Those central issues have been set aside for 60-days of post-MOU negotiations, in which Iran can be reliably expected to resist all substantive concessions.

Not exactly a case of Iran bending to US military might or Trump’s threats.

The MOU also represents a complete abandonment of the protesters who took to the streets earlier this year to demonstrate against the regime...

Any limits on Iran’s nuclear program that it agrees to will be accompanied by the release of billions of dollars of frozen assets, or the lifting of sanctions that will pour many billions more into regime coffers.

That money will go to two main purposes — rebuilding the military assets that were lost in the war, and aiding the recovery of Iran’s armed proxies. Whatever money does filter down to the Iranian public will only be enough to help release pressure in a shattered and mismanaged economy...

15th post
Holy crap. We pay Israel billions every year. They create instability in the middle east. Then we pay to bomb Iran. And now we gotta pay for their reconstruction.

Oh yeah, that's what we voted for.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
