The police never said that a third person opened the door in the first place. NBC was simply lying again, as usual.

Why do so many people treat known fake news outlets such as NBC as if they are some kind of reliable news source?

The police never said there were three people at the home. They have never mentioned encountering more than two people at the home, no matter what anyone has reported.

They never said who opened the door. The media reported it as "someone inside opened the door." This means Paul or his lover friend. Some media assumed it was a third person.

The police said "the door was opened by someone inside, because it is an opaque door, and they don't know who opened it. The door opened.



Immediately after the door was opened the police witnessed two people holding the same hammer. They don't know which one of them opened the door.

Also, the reports by the media that DePape yelled "Where's Nancy?" has not also been confirmed by the officers, and only Paul Pelosi would know that, and they have released nothing about what Paul Pelosi has said about the attack, only what they observed. (Pelosi's statements about the guy's name being David and a friend were captured by 911 dispatch)

Of course it was Pelosi who opened the door after calling the police, but the officers did not observe it, since the door is not opaque, so they reported "someone inside." It's really that simple. Cops don't ID someone as doing something which they did not observe.

The officers knocked.
The door opened.
The officers immediately observed Pelosi and DePape.

Nowhere has the police ever mentioned a third person.

Even the first news conference says the same...

"When the officers arrived on scene, they encountered an adult male and Mr. [sic] Pelosi's husband."

If Paul opened the door with one hand while holding the hammer with the other, he would have had to have been right at the doorway when the officers say them. Why would the officers not step in and separate the two, instead of ordering them to drop the hammer?
