Why the fiction of maternity flight suits as if they are really going to be flying planes?
Not everyone who wears a flight suit is a pilot, or on a combat mission.
It doesn't have to be fiction that they are investigating ways to accommodate pregnant service members with appropriate clothing.
Still, the service member knows how women get pregnant.
With that choice comes consequences that may interfere with their desire or ability to serve at full active duty capacity.
The service has probably changed quite a bit since I was in.
We didn't get pregnant if we intended to fly, and it had to do with a lot more things than how the flight suit fits.
For instance, do you know how you use the bathroom in a lot of modern military aircraft ... And how it gets from the aircraft to the proper disposal area?
I would leave it up to the Flight Surgeon and Command to determine what the mission calls for and whether or not the servicemember can acceptably meet the standards.
I think the story covered in the OP and the initiative to address the flight suit dilemma, is most likely a bunch of hogwash.
At best, it will affect a minimal amount of active duty service members and goes further towards making politicians and government stooges look like they care.
It most likely will push Commanders towards making decisions, that otherwise were not previously addressed for more simple reasons.
