How many people want to jump on Trump, but can't do it.
Honestly, when it's the extreme far right breaking the law, like shooting and killing abortion doctors,
you can condemn the crime all you want. But people in opposition will still focus more on arguing that abortion needs to stop, or Trump needs to be stopped, if you really want to solve the problem that CAUSED such crime to be committed. They'll still use that to make their point and validate why their opposition needs to be heard and taken seriously.
The prolife people I know would still condemn abortions more and not focus on the crime of killing an abortion doctor, which they would trust the "system to take care of."
Same here. Even the people most opposed to Trump are not going to fight against the people who rioted and broke laws in protest. They are still going to focus on opposing and taking down Trump, and will leave it to the system to address the inappropriate actions that violated laws. They are not going to condemn that as strongly as they condemn Trump. They'll let other people deal with it.
In their minds, this brash reaction doesn't discredit the opposition but VALIDATES it. That the problem is so bad, people are willing to break laws to protest! So the victim or target of the attack is blamed, not the people who went too far as to break laws with violence and vandalism.
