2) Transfer to the State U with a B average, and get a reduction of tuition of between 30% - 50% for the last two years.

I would consider at least talking about loans to students of places who were predators, offering basically worthless degrees - as long as we limit government backed student loans to everyone everywhere who does not have a reasonable expectation of paying the loans back. The government rubberstamps loans to people who shouldn't be getting loans in the first place. If we are going to clean up the mess then we have to make sure we don't continue making more messes to clean up.I
Is it truly the student's fault ?? Think about the 2008 debacle where the government and banks were in cahoots trying to get loans out to the poor people for houses, and it ultimately resulting in a huge housing market bubble crash, and a huge bank's failure, otherwise when bank's tried repackaging the loan's, and then selling them to whoever their target victim was.
I knew a woman that purchased a trailer during the period, and the next thing we know was that her mortgage was sold to another, and soon after that came the crash. Was she to blame ? Nope.
Predatory lending practices to vulnerable student's was a crisis in the making. It finally got out of control, and people were drowning in debt with a very long time to get out of the situation. Carrying that weight into their job seeking career was for many a Titanic affair that could end up sinking them before they could establish their careers.
A re-evaluation of their debt should be looked at by professionals, and then customizable remedies could be offered to each student if seeking out help in their situation.
Using crisis to buy votes however, needs to be seen for what it is.
If the government in collaboration with banks and colleges, are joined in a scheme that gives kick back's to politician's in favor of tuition cost for profits, then this needs to be looked at also.

I feel the same way about immigration. I'm willing to at least talk about people already here illegally as long as we close the border to more illegals. President Joe Biden vowed Friday to push ahead with a new plan to provide student loan relief for millions of borrowers while blaming Republican “hypocrisy” for triggering the day's Supreme Court decision that wiped out his original plan.
Biden said payment requirements for student loans would resume in coming weeks, but that he would work under the authority of the Higher Education Act to begin a new program designed to ease borrowers’ threat of default if they fall behind over the next year.
