What is this the stupid Biden decision #799 thus far? American people angry over sky high gas prices. Biden empties the SPR to temporarily lower prices and calm down voters...now the gas prices are jacked up sky high again and the SPR is half empty. Oil so expensive Biden can't refill the SPR.

“It’s pure insanity to watch the Biden Administration cut American oil production and then claim they can’t refill our critical reserve because of the price,” Daniel Turner, founder and executive director for Power The Future, said in a statement. “Joe Biden drained the SPR for political reasons, cut our domestic production for his climate agenda and now he’s leaving our critical reserve more vulnerable because he’s incompetent.
The Biden administration has increased regulatory pushback for oil domestic production while raising ongoing concerns about climate change.

Which Presidents Filled And Depleted The Strategic Petroleum Reserve?
At present, it stands at 347 million barrels, the lowest level since August 1983.
During President Obama’s first term, the SPR was depleted by 7 million barrels. But from its peak the SPR was reduced by more than 30 million barrels by the end of Obama’s first term.
President Joe Biden inherited an SPR at 638 million barrels. However, first in response to rising gasoline prices, and then as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, President Biden announced the most aggressive SPR drawdown in history.
During his first two years in office, the SPR was drawn down by 266 million barrels.
So far in 2023, another 25 million barrels have been sold from the SPR.
Add it all up, and
Democrats after Carter drew the SPR down by 306 million barrels,
and Republicans increased the SPR by 571 billion barrels.

The US military actually would get oil from the reserves. Know why?
In case of national emergency, oil from the reserves would be allocated to US refiners for processing into gas and diesel.

We are energy independent under Biden so decision makers must have decided replenishing reserves when oil is expensive right now isn't worth it

And that is much less than there should be. Biden had no emergency to justify selling national security asset. He did it for a political gain.
It was a sleazy tactic but sleaze defines the Dems / Socialists.
