BREAKING: Active Shooter at Oglethorpe Mall in Savannah, GA

Quite the opposite. Nothing I said would limit firearms, but you would know that if you knew what you were talking about.
OK, now you're just openly lying.
just the opposite. Many/most won’t seek help if they are going to be in a Federal database as having mental issues
Of course not. Hell, many won't do it NOW.

Says the only country where this happens.
Norway, France, Austria, Germany, Serbia, Finland, Sweden. All countries that have massive gun control and have had similar attacks.

DURRRRRR

How? On the background, I just want mandatory reporting of criminal actions or domestic violence/DV threats, which is already the law. Its just that states and Fed aren't generally required to report - which resulted in the Sunderland church massacre here, for example.

Of course not. Hell, many won't do it NOW.
So no worse then now.

I mean any mental issues where they are prescribing drugs to treat
Thats much more expansive than what I am talking about. I am talking about clinical level problems.

How so the local officials know about the diagnosis?
Sorry can you clarify?

How many nonterrorist mass shootings this year?

Sweden has terrorism and organized crime.

From out of the layers of Alliaceae...

“This was a terrible tragedy, but sometimes these things just happen and there’s nothing anyone can do to stop them,” said North Carolina resident Samuel Wipper, echoing sentiments expressed by tens of millions of individuals who reside in a nation where over half of the world’s deadliest mass shootings have occurred in the past 50 years and whose citizens are 20 times more likely to die of gun violence than those of other developed nations. “It’s a shame, but what can we do? There really wasn’t anything that was going to keep this guy from snapping and killing a lot of people if that’s what he really wanted.” At press time, residents of the only economically advanced nation in the world where roughly two mass shootings have occurred every month for the past five years were referring to themselves and their situation as “helpless.”
Doesn't even come close to matching the numbers of "a happy healthy lifestyle"...perhaps the problem with crime like the above is that no one is willing to knit a quilt and sing kumbaya [sp].

Yeah, and if you bother to pay attention gun crimes are skyrocketing all over Europe because now they get to deal with the problem we have had to deal with that they didn't.

Violent 3rd worlders are now in their countries, and they brought their violence with them.

Gun violence is a people problem, not a gun problem. Europe is now getting to experience that.

And it is going to do nothing but get worse.

I agree. Outside of a Sig 320, I never saw a gun go off on its own.* We had firearms for generations and did not have mass shootings like now. Its not the guns, its the people. I want people who are criminals or abusers not to have access to guns, and people who are having mental health crises get the care they need.

*If you don't know what I am talking about you're not a gunner. Do you even shoot bro!

You said "They would be assessed at the local level and firearms held by other family members until treated, then returned. "

I asked how the local officials would know about the mental diagnosis.

Ok, thank you. Red flag laws have multiple ways, depending on jurisdiction.

AI but a good summary: My bold for your query.
Red flag laws, also known as Extreme Risk Protection Orders (ERPOs), allow law enforcement, family members, or medical professionals to petition a court to temporarily restrict an individual's access to firearms if they are deemed a danger to themselves or others. These laws aim to prevent potential acts of violence by allowing for the removal of firearms from individuals exhibiting warning signs, often in crisis situations.

How Red Flag Laws Work:

Purpose and Impact:

This is breaking news. A link will be provided as it becomes available.

There are reports of a shooter at Oglethorpe Mall in Savannah, Georgia. The identity of the shooter and the number of injured have not been confirmed yet. Multiple people have been injured. So far, no reports of any fatalities. Will post updates as I get them.

Two "young adults," and one "juvenile" shot.... = gang shooting........

Meanwhile four people killed and dozens hurt in a Chicago driveby shooting barely gets coverage.

That was apparently in response to a rapper having a party.......in gun control Chicago.

Yup. None of that shit existed back when this country was ran by Christian conservatives.

And the easiest way to do that is when they commit a violent crime they go to prison for a very, very long time.

Blue cities though, where the majority of "gun crimes" occur, the policy is to let the violent criminals out so they can continue their crime sprees.

Every time I see where one of these scum is finally put down, they have rap sheets a mile long.

THAT is the problem.

Not guns.

I agree. I am more discussing the mass shooter doods vs. the criminal doods.
Mass shooters are almost always known to the authorities. Like 9 out of ten times. There are ways to deal with them that don't violate the COTUS.

A good point.

to get my current job I had to undergo two background checks (once as a contractor, again when brought on full time), a drug test, a review of my financials, and they questioned multiple coworkers and former bosses.

To sponsor my wife for immigration, I had to pay $4000 in fees and applications and submit 200 pages of documentation.

To get a mortgage, I had to account for every bank account and loan that I've had in the last 20 years.

To get a FOID card (in supposedly tough-on-guns Illinois) I had to pay $11.00 and fill out one form.
Ok now we know your wackiness. You had to make an illegal become legal and you feel it was unfair and too much work and too costly so everyone who wants in should just be let in and allowed to stay
