Bombs in Instanbul (not Constantinople), bombs in Instanbul (not Constantinople)

The original name of the place is Byzantium, named for its founding king who was the leader of the colonists from Megara in 657 BCE. Megara is about 20 miles west of Athens.

That name then got changed by Constantine to Constantinople when he moved his capital city there in 330 AD.

It was changed again to Istanbul by Mehmed 2nd in 1453 when he conquered it and made it his own capital.

It is now the largest city in Turkey although not its capital.
