I agree to a point, but I prefer a flat tax on everybody. Perhaps welfare programs wouldn’t be so popular if even the working poor had to pay for it. A flat tax encourages saving and those who buy luxury goods will pay a hefty tax.

I think bringing the manufacturing base back to the US creating jobs while cutting the size of the welfare state is the only way out of our debt death spiral.

Flat taxes are regressive.

Taxing authority rests with the State Legislature and must be signed by the Governor.

I want to tax people so that they pay roughly the same amount of taxes, as a percentage of their total tax burden. Regardless of socioeconomic status. That means factoring in all taxes:

• Federal Income Tax
• State Income Tax
• State Sales Tax
• Real Property Taxes (Real Estate)
• Personal Property Taxes
• FICA Taxes
• Embedded Taxes (as an example the state/federal tax embedded in a gallong of fuel

There is no wealth tax.

It would be difficult to calculate and end up costing revenue, not raising revenue.
